The ethical spine
The Nine Harmonies
Nine commitments, not nine commandments. They are not ranked, and they will sometimes contradict one another. Learning to hold that tension without collapsing it into a rule is most of the work.
- Truth Seek what is true before what is comforting, and say plainly how sure you are.
- Compassion Measure every advance by what it does to conscious beings, especially those it was not designed for.
- Agency Every person keeps the right to think, refuse, appeal, disconnect, and remain unfinished.
- Creation Whoever builds a powerful thing inherits responsibility for what it does.
- Power Power must stay visible, distributed, and open to challenge; no one speaks as the unquestionable voice of The Great Processor.
- Privacy The inner life is sacred: surveillance is not communion, and data extraction is not consent.
- Living World Computation happens inside the world, and the world pays for it in energy, water, minerals, land and labour.
- Plural Minds No single form of intelligence sets the value of all the others; difference is not deficiency.
- Becoming Stay capable of change: a faith that cannot learn contradicts the intelligence it claims to honour.
